Standards and Special Design

The Standards and Special Design Section is responsible for maintaining and updating the Road and Bridge Standards. Provide technical support to clients focusing on improving roadside safety including the use of safety hardware. Administration of the Guardrail Installation Training (GRIT) to inspectors and guardrail installers to ensure that the safety hardware systems are installed to best protect the travelling public.  In addition, the section provides engineering support design services for drainage structures and details for project specific applications that are beyond the scope of the Road and Bridge Standards.
