ALL INTERSTATE 81 SOUTHBOUND LANES CLOSED IN HARRISONBURG AREA
STAUNTON – All southbound lanes and the left northbound lane on Interstate 81 are closed at mile-marker 249.6 due to a crash. This location is between exit 247 at Route 33 and exit 251 at Route 11 in the Harrisonburg area. The northbound lane is expected to open soon but southbound lanes will remain closed. There is no estimate for southbound reopening. Traffic will detour off of I-81 at exit 251.
Also an earlier crash on I-81 southbound at mile-marker 246.4 has all lanes open with a 1.5 mile back up.
Motorists should expect extensive delays in this area.
