VDOT News - Staunton

STAUNTON – (4 a.m.) A wintry mix of precipitation may create slick driving conditions Monday morning in parts of the Shenandoah Valley and Alleghany Highlands. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are all possible in the region, especially in the northern valley and higher elevations. Motorists should allow extra travel time and be alert for changing conditions throughout the morning.

Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation have been on duty since midnight Sunday night throughout the 11-county Staunton District. They are treating or plowing roads as needed until the threat of icy road conditions has subsided.

For winter weather road conditions go to http://www.511Virginia.org, look at the orange bar on the top of the page and click on “Text Views” and then click on “Road Condition Table”. Look at the pull down box that lists all jurisdictions.  In this box individual counties can be chosen to view.
