DETOUR FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ON DIUGUIDS LANE IN ROANOKE COUNTY TO BE RESCHEDULED

SALEM – A previously announced 45-day road closure with a detour needed to replace the Route 760 (Diuguids Lane) bridge over the Roanoke River in Roanoke County will be rescheduled.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) had notified residents at a meeting in November 2021 that the detour would start in late January or early February 2022.

The 45-day detour has been postponed and is now expected to go in place in late July. The road closure and detour are being rescheduled due to a delay with fabricating the pre-stressed concrete beams needed to construct the new bridge.

The bridge is located at the Salem city limits near Route 760’s intersection with Route 639 (West Riverside Drive).

For workers to replace the bridge, traffic on Diuguids Lane will need to detour onto Mill Lane or West Riverside Drive for 45 days.

Signs and message boards will be posted prior to the closure. In addition, signs will be in place to alert drivers to the detour route.
