VDOT TO HOLD ‘PARDON OUR DUST’ MEETING FOR ROUTE 760 (DIUGUIDS LANE) BRIDGE REPLACEMENT IN ROANOKE COUNTY
SALEM – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a “Pardon Our Dust” public information meeting to discuss an upcoming project to replace the Route 760 (Diuguids Lane) bridge over the Roanoke River in Roanoke County.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 16 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Fort Lewis Elementary School located at 3115 West Main Street in Salem. The meeting will be held in an “open house” format with no formal presentation given. Citizens can attend at their convenience to speak with VDOT staff about the project.
The bridge is located at the Salem city limits near Route 760’s intersection with Route 639 (West Riverside Drive). The bridge was built in 1961 and has reached the end of its service life.
Work to replace the bridge is expected to begin in fall 2021 and be completed in late spring 2022. During construction, traffic will be detoured for 45 days starting in late January or early February 2022. Drivers will use Mill Lane or West Riverside Drive to detour and return to Diuguids Lane.
