TRAFFIC ALERT: TRAFFIC SWITCH SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW ON ROUTE 220 IN BOTETOURT COUNTY
SALEM – As part of the ongoing construction along the approximately 10 mile stretch of Route 220 (Botetourt Road) between Eagle Rock and Iron Gate in Botetourt County, another traffic switch additional flagging and speed reductions have been scheduled.
On Friday, September 24, traffic on Route 220 will be shifted up onto the new southbound lane that is now located above the existing northbound lane to continue work on the northbound lanes. A single lane of traffic will be in place for alternating northbound and southbound vehicles maintained by a 24-hour flagging operation already in place. Pilot cars may be used to guide traffic.
In addition, a reduced speed limit of 35 mph is in place throughout the the work zone.

The project is expected to be completed in fall 2021.
