TRAFFIC ALERT: ROUTE 8 CLOSURE AND INTERSTATE 81 LANE AND RAMP CLOSURES SCHEDULED AT EXIT 114 IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY
SALEM – As work continues on I-81 at exit 114, a section of Route 8 will be closed next week and a right lane closure will be in place on northbound I-81 for the installation of bridge girders on the project. A ramp closure will also be in place the following week.
On the nights of Thursday, August 6, Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, from 9 p.m. each night through 6 a.m. the following morning, Route 8 (Riner Road) will be closed at the interchange with I-81 at exit 114 between the ramps to and from the interstate. All traffic headed in the direction of the construction area from north and southbound Route 8 will be required to take the ramps onto southbound I-81 and northbound I-81, respectively.
While bridge construction for the girders is underway, the right lane on northbound I-81 will be closed during nighttime hours, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the through next morning.
In addition, beginning Sunday, August 8 through Wednesday, August 12, the northbound off-ramp closures are possible onto Route 8 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. Message boards will notify drivers of the closure.
Message boards will be in place to alert drivers and drivers should use caution in the work zone.
