TRAFFIC ALERT: SLOW ROLLS SCHEDULED WEDNESDAY DURING DAYTIME HOURS AT INTERSTATE 81’s EXIT 105 IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY
Northbound exit 105 on-ramp to remain closed through spring 2020
SALEM - As the New River Bridge project at exit 105 on I-81 continues, slow rolls will be in place to move new beams across the interstate this week and the current ramp closure at exit 105 will need to remain in place.
On Wednesday, December 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., slow rolls will be utilized on both the northbound and southbound lanes from mile marker 101-109. It is estimated that there will need to be a total of four slow rolls during this 6-hour window. Traffic may be stopped for up to 15 minutes per slow roll. The southbound on-ramp to exit 105 will be closed during each southbound slow roll.
In addition, the northbound exit 105 on-ramp closure has been extended from fall 2019 until spring 2020. This schedule had to be revised when a component of the new bridge was damaged during demolition of the old bridge. Drivers will need to continue to use the detour currently in place.
Drivers should plan accordingly and expect delays in the area. Message boards will be in place.
