SALEM DISTRICT: OVERNIGHT RE-FREEZING MAKES FOR AN ICY COMMUTE
SALEM –Virginia Department of Transportation warns drivers to watch out for icy spots on roadways throughout western Virginia as low overnight temperatures have caused re-freezing of any moisture on roadways after yesterday’s winter weather event.
Drivers should watch out for icy patches, frozen slush and slick spots on previously plowed or treated roadways. With low overnight temperatures, any road that appears wet will be icy this morning.
Travelers are reminded that they can get real-time information on road conditions and traffic incidents on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system.
The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, and Roanoke.
