SOUTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin work next week on a bridge rehabilitation project at Interstate 95 over Reymet Road (Route 608) in Chesterfield County.

Drivers can expect flagging operations to begin the week of October 25 on Reymet Road. No traffic impacts to Interstate 95 are planned at this time.

The purpose of the project is to extend the life cycle of the I-95 bridge over Reymet Road by replacing its superstructure and rehabilitating other bridge components. The project will also increase the bridge’s vertical height clearance from 14 feet, 4 inches to at least 14 feet, 6 inches.

The original bridge was built in 1958 and reconstructed in 1990. The bridge is located between the Route 288 and Willis Road interchanges, and carries approximately 51,000 vehicles per direction each day. The segment of Reymet Road beneath the bridge carries approximately 2,300 vehicles per direction each day. 

A willingness for public comment on this project was advertised in November 2018.

The total estimated cost of the project is $9.4 million. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete in summer 2022.
