TRAFFIC IMPACTS BEGIN FOR HOPKINS ROAD AND KINGSLAND ROAD INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS IN CHESTERFIELD
Drivers can expect lane closures, detours and new traffic patterns during construction
SOUTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently began work on an interchange improvements project at Hopkins Road (Route 637) and Kingsland Road (Route 611) in Chesterfield County. Traffic impacts including flagging operations are starting this week.
The purpose of the project is to improve safety and traffic operations at the intersection of Hopkins Road and Kingsland Road by constructing a single lane roundabout.
During construction, drivers can expect flagging operations, alternating lane closures, occasional detours and new traffic patterns. Detour routes and dates will be posted in advance.
Public information meetings about the project were held on May 24, 2016 and September 7, 2017. A public hearing on the project was held on August 29, 2018.
The total estimated cost of the project is $3.4 million. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete in fall 2022.
