INDIAN OAK ROAD (ROUTE 618) NOW OPEN OVER DEEP CREEK FOLLOWING BRIDGE REPLACEMENT IN NOTTOWAY COUNTY

SOUTH CHESTERFIELD —On Monday, November 1, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) completed a bridge replacement project on Indian Oak Road (Route 618) over Deep Creek in Nottoway County. The project replaced the existing, structurally deficient timber bridge deck with a pre-stressed concrete box beam bridge. The structure now features two 9-foot lanes and 2-foot shoulders.

The $2.5 million replacement project began in December 2020 and was completed on schedule. The bridge was first built in 1962, and was reconstructed in 1988. It carries approximately 240 vehicles per day.

The detour has been lifted and the road is now open.

Anyone with questions about the project can call (800) 367-7623 or visit https://my.vdot.virginia.gov/. More information on the project is available on the project web page.
