INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS COMING TO I-195 AND LABURNUM AVENUE (ROUTE 197) IN RICHMOND
Drivers can expect lane closures on weekdays during construction
SOUTH CHESTERFIELD — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will start work on several intersection improvements at I-195 and Laburnum Avenue (Route 197) in Richmond starting in early August.
Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete in spring 2021.
Drivers can expect lane closures and flagging operations from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays during construction.
Some of the major improvements for this project include:
- replacing the existing intersection of Laburnum Avenue and I-195 south with a roundabout,
- constructing a separate left turn lane at I-195 north and Laburnum Avenue, and
- improving beautification of the intersection by installing landscaping.
A public information meeting about this project was held on December 7, 2017. The total estimated cost of the project is $1.4 million.
