Trap Road Temporarily Closed at Route 7 in Vienna April 19-22
Use Towlston Road for access between Trap Road and Route 7 during closure
VIENNA - Starting on Wednesday, April 19 at 7 a.m. and continuing through Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m., Trap Road will be closed at Route 7 while crews continue to build the improvements in this area.
Drivers will use Towlston Road for access between Trap Road and Route 7. See map below for details.
By Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m., the eastbound lanes of Route 7 will shift to the south, and Trap Road will reopen at Route 7 to incoming traffic. Drivers on eastbound Route 7 will be able to turn right onto Trap Road. Access from Trap Road to eastbound and westbound Route 7 will be provided via Towlston Road until summer 2023.
All residences, businesses and other public facilities will remain accessible.
All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
For information on intersection movements at the completion of construction along Route 7, please see the interactive map on the project website.
Please note crews are only working within the VDOT right of way and where rights have been acquired from property owners (read more).
As a reminder, the Route 7 speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive, and Virginia law prohibits the use of handheld cell phones while driving through an active work zone.
Please use caution and be alert to work zone signs, potential flagger or police direction, and watch for traffic shifts. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering or exiting the road.
