FAIRFAX, VA – The ramp from southbound I-495 to southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway is scheduled to close during overnight hours Thursday, Sept. 14, and Friday, Sept. 15. The ramp will close between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., and traffic will be detoured to the next exit to access the George Washington Parkway. This closure is necessary for crews to conduct stormwater drainage work as part of the 495 NEXT project.

Motorists should follow the below detour:

  1. Continue south on I-495 and take Exit 44 for Georgetown Pike;
  2. At the first Georgetown Pike traffic light, turn left and continue on the bridge over the Beltway;
  3. Turn left at the second traffic light to take the ramp for northbound I-495; and
  4. Continue north on I-495 to Exit 43 for George Washington Memorial Parkway

Drivers are urged to use caution and expect potential delays if traveling through this area. This work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled for the following night in the event of inclement weather.
