Traffic Pattern Changes and Extended Ramp Closures at the I-66/Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) Interchange Tomorrow, October 15, and Next Week, October 17-22

UPDATE (10/18/2022): The closure of the ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North to I-66 West has been rescheduled to begin at 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, remaining closed continuously through 6 a.m. Friday, October 21. Immediately following the opening of that ramp, the ramp from Route 123 South to I-66 West will close beginning around 6 a.m. Friday, October 21, and will remain closed continuously through 6 a.m. Sunday, October 23.

FAIRFAX – Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South travel lanes approaching I-66 will shift into their permanent alignment using a new bridge span beginning during the early morning hours Saturday, October 15. Following this shift, Route 123 North and Route 123 South traffic will each have its own bridge span over I-66. The Route 123 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Crews will then begin final paving of the I-66 ramps at Route 123. The ramp from Route 123 North to I-66 West will close Wednesday morning, October 19, through Thursday night, October 20. The ramp from Route 123 South to I-66 West will then close from Friday morning, October 21, through Saturday night, October 22. During these closures traffic will access I-66 West using the new ramp to the future westbound 66 Express Lanes.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in the area and consider using alternate routes.

Details include:
