Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges This Weekend, July 15-16, and Next Week, July 17-23, For the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Friday, July 15
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway)
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for striping. Traffic will be detoured farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 Bypass.

 

Saturday, July 16, through Monday, July 18
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North  
The ramp will be closed Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., and Sunday and Monday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.

 

Sunday, July 17
Ramp from Route 29 North Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday, July 18, and Tuesday, July 19
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 North and South
The ramps will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.  

 

Monday, July 18, and Tuesday, July 19
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 East 
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 North, turn left at the second traffic signal, and follow signs to Route 286 North, then exit to I-66 East.

 

Monday night, July 18, through Wednesday night, July 20
Ramp from Braddock Road to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 South, cross over I-66, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday, July 18, and Friday, July 22
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for a traffic shift and noise wall work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.

 

Monday, July 18, through Saturday, July 23
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday night, July 18; Thursday night, July 21; and Friday night, July 22
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South  
The ramp will be closed Monday and Thursday nights from midnight to 4 a.m., and Friday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for sign and guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to reach Route 28 South. 

 

Tuesday night, July 19, and Wednesday night, July 20
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Wednesday night, July 20, and Thursday night, July 21
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for sign installation. Drivers will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
