Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges September 11 - 19 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday, September 11, through Saturday, September 17
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South
Ramp closure is planned between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to exit prior to the closure to Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) South, turn left onto Balls Ford Road to reach Route 234 Business. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Sunday, September 11, through Saturday, September 17
Ramps from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Gainesville to I-66 East
Ramp closures are planned between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, take the exit to Route 15, stay to the left and use the left-most lane to Route 15 South, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Sunday, September 11, through Saturday, September 17
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North and South Gainesville
Ramp closure is planned between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed farther west to Route 15, stay to the left and use the left-most lane to Route 15 South, stay to the left to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Sunday, September 11, through Saturday, September 17
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Bypass
Ramp closure is planned between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for paving and striping. Traffic will be detoured farther west, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 234 Bypass. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, September 12, and Tuesday, September 13
Ramps from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 East
Ramp closures are planned both nights between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. for paving. Route 29 South traffic will be directed farther south to Stone Road, make a U-turn onto Route 29 North, exit to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Route 29 North traffic will be directed farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, September 12, through Thursday, September 15
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
Ramp closures are planned between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for striping. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 North (prior to the ramp closure), stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.
Thursday, September 15, through Saturday, September 17
Ramps from Route 28 North and South to I-66 East
Ramp closures are planned between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for paving and overhead bridge work. Southbound traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 South, continue for about one mile, and follow signs to I-66 East. Northbound traffic will also be directed to Route 29 South (prior to the closure), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday night, September 12, through Friday night, September 16
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North and South Centreville
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights between midnight and 4 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, September 12, through Friday, September 16
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business North and South
Ramp closure is planned between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. on multiple nights for drainage inspection. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then exit to Route 234 Business. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Tuesday night, September 13, and Wednesday night, September 14
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.
Wednesday night, September 14
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to exit to I-66 West, stay right to Route 286 South, then stay right to I-66 East.
Wednesday night, September 14, through Friday night, September 16
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to exit the highway prior to the closure to I-66 West, exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Friday night, September 16
Ramps from Route 286 North and South to I-66 West
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic from both directions of Route 286 will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
