Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week, July 31-August 5, For the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
UPDATE (7/30/2022): The ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) South Centreville to I-66 West will be closed Monday night, August 1, from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed farther south to Stone Road, make a U-turn onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 West.
UPDATE (7/29/2022): The ramp from the 495 Express Lanes North to I-66 West will be closed Saturday, July 30, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Overhead variable message boards will direct traffic to an alternate route.
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Saturday, July 30; Sunday, July 31; Tuesday, August 2; and Wednesday, August 3
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed both Saturday and Sunday nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.; and Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.
Monday night, August 1, through Friday night, August 5
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for high mast installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday night, August 1, through Friday night, August 5
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday night, August 1, and Tuesday night, August 2
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Wednesday night, August 3, and Thursday night, August 4
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for light pole installation. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.
Thursday night, August 4, and Friday night, August 5
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.
Thursday night, August 4
Ramps from I-66 East to Nutley Street North and South
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be detoured farther east to I-495 North, travel north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, exit to I-66 West, then follow signs to Nutley Street North or South.
