Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week, July 24-29, For the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday night, July 24
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for ramp construction. Traffic will be directed farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Sunday, July 24, through Thursday, July 28
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed Sunday and Monday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Tuesday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
Sunday night, July 24, through Friday night, July 29
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. (5 a.m. Saturday) each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. (5 a.m. Saturday) each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday night, July 25
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.
Monday night, July 25, through Wednesday night, July 27
Ramp from Braddock Road to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 South, cross over I-66, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Tuesday night, July 26
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Drivers will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday night, July 28 and Friday night, July 29
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to reach Route 28 South.
Thursday, July 28, and Friday, July 29
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.
Thursday night, July 28
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.
