Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, March 6 – 12, for Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday, March 6, through Friday, March 11
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, March 7, and Tuesday night, March 8
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, continue for about one mile and follow signs to t I-66 East.
Monday night, March 7, through Wednesday night, March 9
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for retaining wall work. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then stay to the left and follow signs to Braddock Road/Walney Road.
Tuesday night, March 8, and Wednesday night, March 9
Ramp from Route 29 North Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for inspection work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday night, March 9, and Thursday night, March 10
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to continue south to the exit to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday night, March 10
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 Centerville
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29.
Friday, March 11, through Monday, March 14
Ramp from I-66 West to Nutley Street South
The ramp will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. Friday continuously through 5 a.m. Monday for ramp construction. Traffic will be directed farther west to the exit to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Station, stay to the right onto Country Creek Road, continue onto Virginia Center Boulevard, then at the Nutley Street traffic signal turn right to head south.
Friday night, March 11, and Saturday night, March 12
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
