Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, February 21-26 for Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

UPDATE (2/22/2022): The following ramp closure has been added to this week's schedule:

Tuesday night, February 22
Ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) South Gainesville to I-66 East 
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m.for construction activity. Traffic will be directed farther south to McGraw's Corner Drive/Virginia Oaks Drive, make a U-turn at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Ramp Route 29 South to I-66 East Detour

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Monday night, February 21
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North Gainesville
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed farther west to Route 15, stay to left and use the left-most lane to Route 15 South, staying to the left to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 29 North.

 

Tuesday, February 22, through Thursday night, February 24
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for utility work. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.

 

Tuesday, February 22, through Friday, February 25
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West. 

Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights it conflicts with other closures and detours.

 

Tuesday, February 22, through Friday, February 25
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.

 

Thursday, February 24, through Saturday, February 26
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South and the 495 Express Lanes South
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for a traffic shift on I-66 West. Traffic will be directed farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay to the right to I-66 East, and follow signs to I-495 South or to the 495 Express Lanes South.
