VDOT News - Northern Virginia

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Tuesday night, December 13, and Wednesday night, December 14
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South 
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.

Monday night, December 12, through Friday night, December 16
Ramp from Route 234 Business North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for drainage work. Traffic will be detoured farther north, stay to the right and turn right onto the spur ramp from Route 234 Business South to I-66 East.

Friday night, December 16, and Saturday night December 17
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North   
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Sunday night, December 11, through Wednesday night, December 14
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead pedestrian fence installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Monday night, December 12, through Thursday night, December 15 
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving and striping. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 North, turn left at the second traffic signal, and follow signs to Route 286 North, then exit to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.

Monday night, December 12, through Thursday night, December 15 
Ramp from Route 286 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving and striping. Traffic will be directed to exit to I-66 West, stay right to Route 286 South, then stay right to I-66 East.

Monday night, December 12, through Thursday night, December 15 
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 North
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving and striping. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North. 

Monday night, December 12
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 286 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 286 North, stay to the right to exit to Fair Lakes Parkway/Monument Drive, turn left at the traffic signal onto Fair Lakes Parkway, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto the ramp to Route 286 South.

Monday night, December 12
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. 

Thursday night, December 15, and Friday night, December 16
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West   
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. both nights for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Sunday night, December 11, through Friday night, December 16
Ramps from I-66 West to I-495 South and the 495 Express Lanes South
The ramps will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for sound wall and guardrail work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South or the 495 Express Lanes South.

Monday night, December 12, through Friday night, November 16
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to exit to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
