Overnight Lane Closures on I-66 East in Centreville This Weekend, May 20-21, and Next Week, May 23-24, for Overhead Bridge Beam Installation

UPDATE (5/24): Two additional nights have been added for this work. Lane closures will also be implemented on Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, May 26, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

FAIRFAX – I-66 East approaching Stringfellow Road in Centreville will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours this weekend, Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21, and next week, Monday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 24, for continued bridge beam installation for a ramp from the future I-66 Express Lanes to the eastbound I-66 general-purpose lanes and exit to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway). Traffic will be directed into one lane and run behind barrier on new roadway these nights. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers traveling on I-66 East during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.  

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21
Monday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 24
I-66 East from east of Route 28 to Stringfellow Road

  • I-66 East will be reduced to a single travel lane Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Monday and Tuesday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • All eastbound traffic will travel in a single lane and will be directed behind barrier onto new roadway.
  • All lanes on I-66 East will reopen by 6 a.m. on the weekend, and by 5 a.m. on weekdays.
