Overnight Lane Closures on I-66 East in Centreville Next Week, June 20-24, for Overhead Bridge Beam Installation

FAIRFAX – I-66 East approaching Stringfellow Road in Centreville will be reduced to a single travel lane during the overnight hours next week, Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24, for continued bridge beam installation for a ramp from the future I-66 Express Lanes to the eastbound I-66 general-purpose lanes and exit to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway). Traffic will be directed into one lane and diverted behind barrier onto new roadway to get around the work zone these nights. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers traveling on I-66 East during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.  

Details include:

Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24
I-66 East from east of Route 28 to Stringfellow Road

  • One lane of I-66 East will be closed nightly Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday night from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Eastbound I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane nightly Monday through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., and Friday night between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • All eastbound traffic will be directed into a single lane and diverted behind barrier onto new roadway to get around the work zone.
  • All lanes of I-66 East will reopen by 5 a.m. weekdays, and by 9 a.m. Saturday. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
