I-66 traffic detoured via Route 28 each night

FAIRFAX – Full closures of I-66 East and West at Route 28 are planned during the overnight hours this weekend and the first half of next week for continued bridge beam installation for new access ramps to and from the future Express Lanes at the I-66/Route 28 Interchange. I-66 East will be closed at Route 28 during the overnight hours Friday, April 29. Full closures of I-66 West at Route 28 are scheduled to occur nightly Saturday, April 30, and Monday, May 2, through Wednesday, May 4. The Route 28 Interchange is being rebuilt as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

The detour for both closures will reroute drivers to Route 28 North, exit to Westfields Boulevard West, stay right to Route 28 South and then follow signs to return to I-66 East or I-66 West.

Drivers traveling on I-66 during this time should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.
