University Boulevard over I-66 to be Reduced to a Single Travel Lane in Each Direction July 29-31 for Continued Bridge Deck Work

UPDATE (7/27/2021): Due to high temperature forecasted for Thursday, July 29, this work will now begin at 5 a.m.

FAIRFAX – University Boulevard over I-66 will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 29, through 8 a.m. Saturday, July 31. The northbound side of University Boulevard will be closed with two-way traffic running on the southbound side. The closure is necessary for concrete work on the bridge deck as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.

Message boards on University Boulevard will provide advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Ramps are being built on the east side of the University Boulevard bridge that will provide express lanes access to and from the east when the lanes open in late 2022. The Transform 66 Project is also constructing the nearby University Boulevard Park and Ride Lot, which will include more than 2,000 parking spaces when complete.
