Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, October 24-30, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Tuesday, October 26, and Wednesday, October 27
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 East, exit to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road), stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 234 Business North, then stay left and turn left at the next traffic signal to I-66 West.

Monday, October 25, and Tuesday, October 26
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 Business North and South
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. each night for cantilever installation. Traffic will be directed to exit prior to the closure to Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) South, turn left onto Balls Ford Road to reach Route 234 Business. 

Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business North and South
The ramp will be closed from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for cantilever installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then exit to Route 234 Business.  

Wednesday, October 27
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 Centreville North and South
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 28 North, stay to the left to the Braddock Road/Walney Road exit, turn left at the traffic signal onto Braddock Road West, follow signs to turn left to the ramp to I-66 West, then exit to Route 29 Centreville.    

Monday night, October 25
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, travel south to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road. 

Wednesday night, October 27, and Thursday night, October 28
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for wall work. Traffic will be directed to exit the interstate (prior to the Route 28 North exit) to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay to the right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. 

Friday night, October 29, and Saturday night, October 30
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Saturday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther west to the exit to Route 29 Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South. 

Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Saturday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.  

Ramp from Braddock Road East and West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Friday night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Saturday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.  

Monday night, October 25, through Wednesday night, October 27
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier reset and striping. Traffic will be detoured to Route 50 West, exit to West Ox Road South, and then stay to the right to Route 50 East. 

Tuesday night, October 26, through Thursday night, October 28
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier and ditch work. Traffic will be directed to continue on Route 50 East, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. 

Sunday, October 24
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 North and South
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther west to the exit to Route 50 East, stay to the left and exit to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 123 North and South.  

Thursday, October 28
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift. Route 123 traffic in both directions will be directed to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, then stay to the left to I-66 East.    

Friday night, October 29
Ramp from Route 123 North and South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. Route 123 traffic in both directions will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to Nutley Street North, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.  

Wednesday night, October 27, and Thursday night, October 28
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier setting. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Route 123, stay to the left to Route 123 South, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 South, then stay to the left and turn left at the next traffic signal to I-66 East.    

Monday, October 25, through Saturday, October 30
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. each night for a traffic shift and bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to the exit to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, and then follow signs to I-66 East. 

Friday, October 29, and Saturday, October 30
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed Friday night from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to take the left exit to the 495 Express Lanes North. Drivers will not be charged for using the Express Lanes for this detour. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
