Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, November 14-20, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday night, November 14
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, stay to the right, then exit to Route 29 South. 

 

Sunday night, November 14; and Wednesday night, November 17, through Friday night, November 19
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from midnight to 4 a.m., and Friday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for a traffic shift and wall work. Traffic will be directed to continue south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West. 

 

Wednesday night, November 17, through Friday night, November 19
Ramp from Braddock Road East and West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Wednesday and Thursday nights from midnight to 4 a.m., and Friday night from midnight to 5 a.m. for wall work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Wednesday, November 17, through Saturday, November 20
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Westfields Boulevard West, stay to the right to Route 28 South, and follow signs to I-66 East. (Note: This closure will only be implemented on one night. The other nights will be used as backup. This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with other detours.)

 

Friday, November 19, through Sunday, November 21
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. (Note: This closure will only be implemented on one night. The other nights will be used as backup. This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with other detours.)

 

Monday night, November 15, through Wednesday night, November 17
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then exit to Route 50 East.

 

Tuesday night, November 16, and Wednesday night, November 17
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier and ditch work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane, then follow signs to I-66 West.  

 

Wednesday, November 17, and Thursday, November 18
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, stay to the left, and then follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Wednesday night, November 17, through Friday night, November 19
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier work. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night for drainage work. Traffic will be directed farther north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Friday, November 19
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed Friday night from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge pier work. Traffic traveling to I-66 West will be directed to continue farther north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, and then follow signs to I-66 West. Traffic traveling to I-66 East will be directed to continue farther north to Route 7 East, travel about one mile, and then follow signs to I-66 East. 

 

Thursday, November 18
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
The ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East will be closed during the overnight hours, Thursday night, November 18, from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to pour concrete for barriers and drainage ditches. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East.
