Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week, May 16-22, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday, May 16
Ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South in Centreville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. to implement a traffic shift. Southbound traffic will be directed to continue south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the intersection with Stone Road on to Route 29 North, travel to Route 28 North, and then follow signs to I-66 East. Northbound traffic will be directed to continue farther north to Route 28 North, then exit to I-66 East.  

Sunday, May 16, and Monday, May 17
Ramp from Prince William Parkway (Route 234 Bypass) to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night for paving. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, to Route 29 South (Lee Highway) in Gainesville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal on to Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

Monday night, May 17, through Wednesday night, May 19
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for drainage work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, and then follow signs to I-66 East.

Tuesday night, May 18, and Wednesday night, May 19
Ramp from Prince William Parkway (Route 234 Bypass) to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for lightning lighting repair. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 East, to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal on to Route 234 Business North, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 West.

Tuesday night, May 18
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to set barrier. Traffic will be directed to Route 50 East, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road on to Route 50 West.

Wednesday night, May 19
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Thursday, May 20, through Saturday, May 22
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. Thursday night, and from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for crews to implement a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue on I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, stay left to reach I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 123.

Thursday night, May 20, and Friday night, May 21
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North and Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.

Friday night, May 21
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for bridge work. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
