Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges throughout the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project corridor. 

Details include:

Sunday, February 7, through Tuesday, February 9
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville
The ramp will be closed between midnight and 4 a.m. nightly for crews to adjust construction entrances. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, then continue west to the exit for Route 29 in Centreville.

Monday, February 8, through Thursday, February 11
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. nightly for borehole drilling. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, to Nutley Street, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal on to Nutley Street North, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 West.

Monday, February 8, through Friday, February 12
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.

Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.

Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. nightly for utility work. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay to the right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Tuesday, February 9, through Thursday, February 11
Ramp from 495 Express Lanes South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for crews to implement lane shifts.   

Tuesday, February 9, through Friday, February 12
Ramp from I-66 East to 495 Express Lanes South
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for overhead bridge work.   

Wednesday, February 10, and Thursday, February 11
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for crews to implement lane shifts. Traffic will be directed to Route 286 South, to Route 29 North, turn left at the second traffic signal, then turn left at the first signal and follow signs to Route 286 North.

Friday, February 12
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street North and South   
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for removal of overhead gantry. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. Traffic traveling to Nutley Street North will exit to Nutley Street. Traffic traveling to Nutley Street South will continue on I-66 West past Nutley Street, then take the exit for Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metro, stay to the right on to Country Creek Road and continue on to Virginia Center Boulevard, and turn right on to Nutley Street South.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
