Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 Interchanges throughout the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project corridor. Closures may be rescheduled due to the forecasted snow.
Details include:
Monday, February 1, through Friday, February 5
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed nightly between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed nightly between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.
Monday, February 1, through Wednesday, February 3
Ramp from 495 Express Lanes South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to implement lane shifts.
Monday, February 1, through Thursday, February 4
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead gantry removal. Traffic traveling to Nutley Street North will be detoured farther east to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, then follow signs to Nutley Street North.
Traffic traveling to Nutley Street South will be detoured farther east to Route 7 West, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, then take the exit for Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metrorail, stay to the right on to Country Creek Road and continue on to Virginia Center Boulevard, then turn right at the traffic signal at Nutley Street to go south.
Tuesday, February 2, through Thursday, February 4
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to implement lane shifts. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 286 North, stay to the right to exit to Fair Lakes Parkway/Monument Drive, turn left at the traffic signal on to Fair Lakes Parkway, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal on to the ramp to Route 286 South.
Wednesday, February 3, through Friday, February 5
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for construction activities. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
