Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 Interchanges throughout the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project corridor.
Details include:
Monday, January 25, through Wednesday, January 27
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Monday night, January 25, Tuesday night, January 26, and Wednesday night, January 27, between midnight and 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Tuesday, January 26, and Wednesday, January 27
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for crews to implement lane shifts. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 286North, stay to the right to exit to Fair Lakes Parkway/Monument Drive, turn left at the traffic signal on to Fair Lakes Parkway, then stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal on to the ramp to Route 286 South.
Thursday, January 28
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) North and South
The ramp will be closed Thursday night, January 28, between midnight and 4 a.m. for crews to shift barrier. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Nutley Street North, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal to Nutley Street North, then stay to the left and make a U-turn at the Virginia Center Boulevard traffic signal on to Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 West back to Route 123.
Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29
Ramp from 495 Express Lanes South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for crews to implement lane shifts.
Friday, January 29
Ramp from Route 123 North and South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Friday night, January 29, between midnight and 4 a.m. for crews to shift barrier. Traffic on southbound Route 123 will be directed to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 East. Traffic on northbound Route 123 will be directed to continue north and turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, stay to the left and follow signs to I-66 East.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
