Overnight Lane Closures on I-66 East in Manassas Area for Bridge Beam Installation Next Week, Jan. 25-28

UPDATE (1/22/21):  Due to forecasted inclement weather, work is now planned to continue through Friday, January 29.

FAIRFAX – Eastbound I-66 will be reduced to a single travel lane approaching Groveton Road in Manassas from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly next week, Monday, January 25, through Thursday, January 28. Closures are necessary for crews to install overhead bridge beams for new Express Lanes access ramps to and from the future Balls Ford Road Park and Ride Lot as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area and should consider using alternate routes.

Details include:

Monday, January 25, through Thursday, January 28
I-66 East from Route 234 (Prince William Parkway) to east of Groveton Road in Manassas

  • Eastbound I-66 will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Groveton Road from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for overhead bridge beam installation
  • All lanes reopen by 5 a.m.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project is expanding transit and carpool use in the I-66 corridor by adding a new park and ride lot in Manassas off Balls Ford Road at Century Park Drive. When complete in 2022, the new Balls Ford Road Park and Ride Lot will include approximately 1300 spaces and will offer direct access to and from the new Express Lanes from Century Park Drive.
