Overnight Closure of Ramps from I-66 West to Route 28 North and to Braddock Road/Walney Road Planned January 28-29 for Work on New Pedestrian Bridge
FAIRFAX – Continued bridge beam installation and overhead bridge work for a new pedestrian bridge for the future 66 Parallel Trail will require closure of the I-66 West ramps to Route 28 North and the Braddock Road/Walney Road overpass from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29. A shared-use path is being built through the Route 28 Interchange as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area during these times and should consider using alternate routes.
Details include:
Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29- The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
- Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North.
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
- The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
- Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled to the following night if inclement conditions occur.
The Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project includes construction of 11 miles of paved trail along I-66, as well as connections to other trails and significant bike and pedestrian improvements at many interchanges along the I-66 corridor.
