Traffic Stoppages Planned Sunday Night on I-66 East and West in Centreville for Utility Work
FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages and ramp closures are planned for I-66 East and West between Route 28 and Route 29 Centreville during overnight hours on Sunday, Feb. 9, so that NOVEC (Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative) can pull overhead lines across the roadway just west of Route 28. Work is needed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
- Between midnight and 4 a.m. there will be multiple traffic stoppages of up to 20 minutes each in both directions of I-66 simultaneously as the wires are pulled.
- The ramp from Route 29 North and South to I-66 East will be closed during the temporary stoppages.
- The Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West will remain closed from midnight to 4 a.m. with a detour route posted. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
- In addition, there will be a flagging operation on Braddock Road East and West between Newton Patent Drive and Route 28 from midnight to 4 a.m.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
