FAIRFAX - Drivers exiting I-66 East at Nutley Street will use a new, temporary ramp and traffic signal to reach northbound Nutley Street beginning on or about Saturday, November 21, as construction of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project continues. This change will allow pavement rehabilitation to advance for the new I-66 East general purpose lanes while crews prepare to reconstruct the Nutley Street Interchange.

Starting on or about the early morning hours of Saturday, November 21, drivers should expect the following traffic pattern change, weather permitting:

I-66 East to Nutley Street North

• The loop ramp from I-66 East to northbound Nutley Street will close.
• Drivers will access Nutley Street North by taking the current exit from I-66 East to Nutley Street South, staying to the left to use a new temporary ramp, then turning left at a temporary traffic signal on to northbound Nutley Street.
• Access from I-66 East to southbound Nutley Street and Saintsbury Drive/Vienna Metrorail Station will remain unchanged.
• Drivers traveling on Nutley Street should remain alert for changes in signal timing to allow traffic to turn onto Nutley Street North.

Drivers should expect additional changes at the interchange in the coming weeks, including a new temporary ramp from I-66 West to southbound Nutley Street that will change signal operations at the temporary, signal-controlled intersection on Nutley Street on the north side of the interchange. The temporary traffic signals and ramps will remain in place for approximately 18 more months while construction of the new interchange continues.

Drivers should always use caution and pay attention to lane markings and roadway signs in construction work zones.

The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
