Temporary Closure of Dorr Avenue at Prosperity Avenue Beginning Thursday, September 24
Closure in place for approximately four weeks for work related to the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – A section of Dorr Avenue will be temporarily closed to vehicle thru-traffic at Prosperity Avenue in Merrifield for about four weeks beginning Thursday, September 24, so that crews can relocate underground utilities and perform other construction activities as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The closure is expected to be in place through Thursday, October 22.
Vehicular traffic from Prosperity Avenue will not be allowed to turn south on to Dorr Avenue. A detour will use Prosperity Avenue, Merrilee Drive, and Merrifield Avenue. Vehicles can access properties along Dorr Avenue from the south during this work, but will not be able to continue through to Prosperity Avenue.
The closure will not impact pedestrians and bicyclists as sidewalk connections between Dorr Avenue and Prosperity Avenue will remain open.
Drivers should observe posted detours and remain alert if traveling in this area.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
