Overnight Traffic Stoppages, Lane Closures on I-66 West for Overhead Bridge Work Near Vienna Metrorail Station Continue Next Week

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages on I-66 West near the Vienna Metrorail Station will continue next week for overhead bridge decking installation for the new Vaden Drive Bridge. The bridge is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.  

Details include:

Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24

I-66 West from Cedar Lane to west of Vaden Drive

  • I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Vaden Drive near the Vienna Metrorail Station nightly Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23, from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., and Friday, July 24, from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages and slowdowns each night.
  • All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. on weekdays and 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Drivers traveling in this area should expect delays during these times, and should consider using alternate routes. All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Installation of beams for the new Vaden Drive Bridge finished July 17.
