Overnight Ramp Closures on I-66 East in Arlington This Week for the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project

FAIRFAX – Alternating overnight ramp closures are scheduled to occur this week on I-66 East in Arlington for final asphalt paving and striping as part of the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project.

Each night at 9 p.m. the ramp from I-66 East to Exit 68, Westmoreland Street, will close for a few hours, followed by closure of the ramp from I-66 East to Exit 69, Washington Boulevard/Lee Highway (Route 29), later that night. Only one ramp will be closed at a time and detour routes will be switched. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m.

Details include:

Monday, October 5, through Wednesday, October 7
Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9 (back up nights)
Ramp from I-66 East to Exit 68, Westmoreland Street
The ramp will be closed each night beginning at 9 p.m. Traffic will be directed farther east on I-66 to Exit 69, Washington Boulevard/Lee Highway (Route 29). Traffic will turn right on Lee Highway toward Falls Church, turn right on West Jefferson Street, turn right on Little Falls Street, turn left on Fairfax Drive, and then turn right on North Westmoreland Street.

The ramp will close each night after work has been completed on the Exit 68 ramp. Traffic will be directed to Exit 68, Westmoreland Street, prior to the closure. Traffic will stay to the right on Westmoreland Street, turn left at the stop sign onto Fairfax Drive, then stay to the right to continue on Fairfax Drive to reach Lee Highway.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
