Overnight Ramp Closures for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project Next Week
Closures planned at I-495 and Route 28 Interchanges
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the I-66 interchanges with Route 28 and I-495 so that crews can perform various construction activities.
Details include:
Sunday, June 21, through Thursday, June 25
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to northbound Route 28 will be closed nightly Sunday, June 21, through Thursday, June 25, from midnight to 4 a.m. for inspections. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
- The ramp from westbound I-66 to southbound Route 28 will be closed nightly Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25, from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving operations. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west to Route 29 Centreville, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.
Monday, June 22, and Wednesday, June 24
Ramp from I-66 East to 495 Express Lanes South
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to the southbound 495 Express Lanes will be closed Monday night, June 22, and Wednesday night, June 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for crews to perform utility work. Traffic will be directed to use the I-495 South general purpose lanes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
