Overnight Ramp Closures For The I-66 Outside The Beltway Project Next Week
Closures planned at Route 234 Business, Monument Drive, and I-495 Interchanges
FAIRFAX – Overnight ramp closures are scheduled next week at several I-66 interchanges so that crews can set barrier, perform drainage and utility work, and other construction activities for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Monday, April 6, through Friday, April 10
Ramp from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South to I-66 East
- The ramp will be closed nightly Monday, April 6, through Friday, April 10, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Crews will set barrier and perform drainage work.
- Northbound Route 234 Business traffic will be directed farther north to Route 29 North, turn right and continue past the Route 29 Centreville interchange. At the intersection with Trinity Parkway/Machen Road, stay to the left and use the left-most left-turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Southbound Route 234 Business traffic will be detoured to turn right on Balls Ford Road, turn left on Miramar Drive, turn left on Coverstone Drive, and then turn left onto northbound Route 234 Business and follow the northbound detour.
Tuesday, April 7
Monument Drive I-66 HOV Ramp
- The I-66 HOV ramp at Monument Drive will be closed Tuesday, April 7, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for pavement work.
Tuesday, April 7, through Thursday, April 9
Ramp from I-66 East to 495 Express Lanes South
- The ramp from I-66 East to the southbound 495 Express Lanes will be closed Tuesday, April 7, through Thursday, April 9, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. Traffic will be directed to the I-495 South general-purpose lanes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
