Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges This Weekend and Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours this weekend and next week at the I-66 interchanges at I-495, Nutley Street, Route 28, Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville, Route 234 (Prince William Parkway), and Route 29 Gainesville for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.  

Details include:

Friday, November 6
Monday, November 9
Friday, November 13, and Saturday, November 14
Ramp from I-66 East to Nutley Street South
The ramp will be closed Friday, November 6, from 10 p.m. to 6:45 a.m., and Monday night, November 9, Friday night, November 13, and Saturday night, November 14, from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving work. Traffic will be detoured to Nutley Street North, continue to the intersection with Virginia Center Boulevard, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal on to Nutley Street South.

Friday, November 6
Sunday, November 8, through Friday, November 13
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 29 Centreville
The ramp will be closed Friday night, November 6, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and Sunday night, November 8, through Friday night, November 13, between midnight and 4 a.m. nightly. Traffic will continue on I-66 East, take the exit for Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West, then exit

Monday, November 9
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed Monday night, November 9, between midnight and 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to make a right at the ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East. 

 

Monday, November 9, through Thursday, November 12
Ramp from 495 Express Lanes North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed Monday, November 9, through Thursday, November 12, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly, for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, continue to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

Friday, November 13
Ramp from Route 29 South Gainesville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed for crews to implement a traffic shift and paving operations Friday, November 13, between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Traffic will be directed farther south to the Linton Hall Road exit, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most turn lane at the traffic signal on to Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 (Prince William Parkway)
The ramp will be closed for paving operations Friday, November 13, between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) South, turn right onto Balls Ford Road, and continue about two miles west to Route 234.

Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
