Overnight Ramp and Lane Closures on I-66 East in Arlington This Week for the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project
A left lane closure will also be implemented on I-66 East; Back-up nights may be needed next week to complete work

FAIRFAX – Overnight ramp and lane closures are scheduled to occur this week, and possibly next week, on I-66 East in Arlington for asphalt paving and overhead sign replacement as part of the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project. Detours will be posted to direct traffic.

Details include:
Wednesday, October 21, through Friday, October 23
Back-up nights: Monday, October, 26, and Tuesday, October, 27
Ramp from I-66 East to Exit 71, Glebe Road (Route 120)/Fairfax Drive (Route 237)
The exit ramp and the left lane near the exit will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed farther east to Exit, 72, Lee Highway (Route 29)/Spout Run Parkway, turn right at the traffic signal on to Lee Highway North, take the first right on to North Kirkwood Road, then turn right at Fairfax Drive to travel to Glebe Road. (The left lane closure will not be needed on Friday night nor on the back-up nights.)

Back-up night: Friday, October, 23
Ramp from I-66 East to Exit 68, Westmoreland Street
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead sign replacement. Traffic will be directed farther east to Exit 69, Washington Boulevard/Lee Highway (Route 29). Traffic will turn right on Lee Highway toward Falls Church, turn right on West Jefferson Street, turn right on to Little Falls Street, turn left on to Fairfax Drive, and then turn right on to North Westmoreland Street.

All work is weather dependent and be implemented on the back-up nights if necessary.
