New Cedar Lane Bridge Over I-66 in Vienna to Open Wednesday, Dec. 23
Reconstructed bridge includes pedestrian facilities and connection to future I-66 corridor shared-use path

FAIRFAX – The new reconstructed Cedar Lane Bridge over I-66 is scheduled to open on Wednesday, December 23, reconnecting Cottage Street to the north and Route 29 (Lee Highway) to the south. The new, wider bridge was built as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project and includes a sidewalk on the west side and a shared-use path on the east side that will connect to the 66 Parallel Trail being built from Dunn Loring to Centreville.

Drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and other bridge users should be alert for continued construction activity in the area surrounding the bridge, including completion of nearby sidewalks, noise walls, and the shared-use path along I-66.

Fairfax Connector Routes 462 and 467 will continue their modified route using Cottage Street and Gallows Road through January 3, 2021. Effective January 4, both routes will resume their pre-construction routes using the Cedar Lane Bridge. There will be Sunday service on Route 467. Find schedule information here.

The exact opening date and time are dependent on weather and remaining construction progress.
