Lane Closures, Periodic Stoppages on I-66 East Near Nutley Street and Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) Next Week for Overhead Sign Removal

FAIRFAX - Overnight lane closures and periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes are planned next week on I-66 East between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and east of Nutley Street, and between Groveton Road and Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) for overhead gantry removal. The work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9
I-66 East between Route 123 and east of Nutley Street

  • Three lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes are planned near Nutley Street between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry removal.

Thursday, June 11
I-66 East between Groveton Road and Route 234 Business

  • Three lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes are planned near Route 234 Business between midnight and 4 a.m. for overhead gantry removal.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
