Belmont Ridge Road Traffic Shifts at the Dulles Greenway in Loudoun Tomorrow
Detours during temporary closure of ramp from eastbound Greenway to northbound Belmont Ridge

ASHBURN – Around 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, the eastbound Dulles Greenway (Route 267) ramp to Belmont Ridge Road (Route 659) will be shifting to the right onto temporary pavement while part of the ramp is reconstructed as part of the Belmont Ridge Road at the Dulles Greenway project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Because of this shift, traffic will temporarily be unable to turn left from the ramp onto northbound Belmont Ridge Road; traffic will be detoured via southbound Belmont Ridge Road and a u-turn at Broadlands Boulevard back to northbound Belmont Ridge Road. This traffic pattern will be in place until mid-spring 2020.

During this time, trucks seeking to exit from the eastbound Dulles Greenway to northbound Belmont Ridge Road will have a detour in place. Truck traffic will be detoured via the eastbound Dulles Greenway, Claiborne Parkway (Route 901) and Broadlands Boulevard back to northbound Belmont Ridge Road.

Also around 1 p.m. Friday, a portion of the ramp from southbound Belmont Ridge Road to the eastbound Dulles Greenway will be shifted to the left onto temporary pavement while part of the ramp is reconstructed. This traffic pattern will also be in place until mid-spring 2020.

When the Belmont Ridge Road at Dulles Greenway project is complete, drivers on Belmont Ridge Road will have two lanes in each direction at the Dulles Greenway interchange, with two-foot shoulders on both sides. On the bridge, the widening is being done entirely within the existing deck.

Other improvements as part of this project include:

  • A new traffic signal (including a flashing yellow arrow) at Belmont Ridge Road and the westbound Dulles Greenway on- and off-ramps
  • Partially reconstructing the ramp from southbound Belmont Ridge Road to the eastbound Dulles Greenway and moving the ramp entrance slightly south of its current location
  • Repaving and restriping Belmont Ridge Road just north and just south of the bridge
  • Retiming and adjusting the traffic signal at Belmont Ridge Road and Sycolin Road

The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2020.
