Traffic Stoppages Planned on I-66 East and West Near Gallows Road During Overnight Hours Friday, October 4
Cox Communications Overhead Line Work to Occur

FAIRFAX – Traffic stoppages and lane closures are planned for I-66 East and West during the overnight hours of Friday, Oct. 4, so that Cox Communications can relocate overhead cable lines near Gallows Road. Traffic will be stopped simultaneously in both directions on I-66 and on the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West multiple times for up to 20 minutes each to accommodate the work, which is needed for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Friday, Oct. 4: I-66 East and West between Cedar Lane and I-495 and the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West

  • Two left lanes will be closed on I-66 West between I-495 and Gallows Road between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Three left lanes will be closed on I-66 East between Cedar Lane and Gallows Road between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. on I-66 in both directions between I-495 and Cedar Lane
  • Periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 4 a.m. on the ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
