Road Repairs Continue Following Heavy Rains
Several closures remain for repairs following heavy rains
FAIRFAX – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews worked around the clock this week clearing debris, assessing damage and making temporary repairs to reopen more than twenty road closures following Monday’s heavy rains, including Beulah Road, Valley Wood Road and Georgetown Pike, and continued to work through heavy rains yesterday evening.
As VDOT’s work continues on storm damage in Fairfax County, several road closures remain that require longer-term repairs:
- Swinks Mill Road over Scott Run
- Kirby Road just south of Claiborne Lane
- Prosperity Avenue near Morningside Drive
Crews are planning for permanent repairs at these locations. Work at Swinks Mill Road and Kirby Road will likely take at least several weeks.
Where temporary repairs were made to reopen roads, crews will revisit for permanent repairs.
Please continue to report road issues to my.vdot.virginia.gov, where you can pinpoint locations, add photos that will be routed directly to local VDOT crews for review, and log in to check request status. You can also report issues to our VDOT customer service center 24/7 at 800-FOR-ROAD.
