Overnight Traffic Stoppages, Lane Closures On I-66 This Friday And Saturday For Overhead Sign Gantry Removal

FAIRFAX, Va. - Overhead sign gantry removal will require lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West between I-495 and Route 243 (Nutley Street) during the overnight hours of Friday, February 15, and Saturday, February 16. Multiple stoppages of up to 20 minutes are planned to occur between midnight and 5 a.m. Additionally, three left lanes will be closed on eastbound and westbound I-66 between I-495 and Route 243 (Nutley Street) from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. on both nights.

The closures and stoppages are needed to remove overhead sign gantries for construction of the I-66 Outside the Beltway Project.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
